How can I get in touch with Neil Marcello Studio?
What are Limited Edition prints?
Limited Edition is a pre-determined number of archival prints, in a particular size, produced from each photograph. Once the edition sells out, then the reprint of that photograph ends permanently, never to be reproduced.
Neil Marcello Studio Limited Editions come in multiple sizes ranging from 3 – 15 signed prints.
What are archival prints?
All of the Neil Marcello Studio Limited Edition prints use Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta. This paper is 100% cotton, acid-free and lignin-free, which makes the prints resistant to ageing and does not yellow, unless left directly under UV lighting for long periods of time, or if non-archival grade tape, adhesives, backing board or window mat is used to mount the print.
Are there any additional Edition types available for purchase?
No, not at this time.
Do you sell framed or unframed artwork?
Neil Marcello Studio does not sell framed artwork at this time. All prints are shipped unframed.
Do you authenticate the artwork?
Yes. As of 2018, to further protect the authenticity of Neil Marcello Studio prints, each print comes with a serialized and numbered hologram that can be found on the front of your Certificate of Authenticity.
A second, identically numbered hologram is applied to the archival label on the reverse side of the print featuring Neil Marcello’s signature (not digitally printed), artwork date and title, and print number.
This information is recorded in our secured database for future reference.
Why does the price of the artwork fluctuate over time?
The price of Neil Marcello Studio Limited Edition prints are affected by demand, cost of materials, tax, and shipping, including variables such as Neil’s professional experience as an artist.
Do photograph prints need to be handled in a special way?
We suggest that you always handle the print with the pair of cotton gloves that is provided, to keep from adding fingerprints or dirt from getting on your print.
Can I frame the print or get it framed?
We recommend that all prints when purchased, be handled, mounted and framed by experienced professionals if/when possible.
Be sure to use a reputable frame shop, especially one that you trust, to mount or frame your photograph.
How do I store my print?
Prior to framing and mounting the print, we suggest leaving the print in the packing materials it came with, and store it an area that has a relative humidity of 35 to 65% and a temperature of 50ºF to 86ºF.
When you’re ready to frame the print, the framer might either recommend flattening the print or will do it at the shop prior to mounting and framing the print.
How do I clean my print?
Before you start cleaning your print, please:
- Wash your hands
- Wear clean cotton gloves
- Have a squeeze air blower to blow off dust
- Place the print on a flat, clean, clutter-free surface under bright light
- Examine the print for any light dust, dirt particles, or the severity of the affected area(s)
- Using a chamois cloth, squeeze air blower or a static-free soft bristle brush, gently wipe, blow or brush the dust or dirt particle off the print
- Please do not use solvents, cleaning sprays, or any other chemicals to clean the surface of your print or you will risk potential irreparable damage to the image
If the affected area(s) is not addressed by the above methods, please seek professional advice from an expert conservator that may be found at an art museum near you.
Should one not be located within your vicinity then you can search the American Institute for Conservation website for more information.
Do you offer framing?
Framing is only offered for any prints being exhibited at a specific venue where the prints are offered for sale. Shipping fees and tax is applicable for those framed prints and is subject to change.
When framing is offered it will be indicated in the print description page on the Neil Marcello e-store.
Any prints not being exhibited at a venue are sold unframed, along with applicable shipping fees and tax.
What do you recommend in terms of mounting the print?
We recommend that all our prints be mounted in a way that is reversible and archival. For example, if you choose to frame the print with a mat board window opening, then ensure that the mat backing board on which the print is attached to as well as the mounting materials like tape, is archival grade.
Please check with your framer regarding the best possible way to mount and frame your print in a reversible manner that maintains the print’s archival property.
Please note that if your print is damaged from handling or during the mounting process, Neil Marcello Studio is not liable for the damage or replacement costs.
What frame should I use to frame my print?
The frames you wish to use are entirely left to your discretion.
However we suggest looking at black metal frames from the Nielsen brand as a starting point. Neil has often used Nielsen metal frames in his gallery exhibitions. These frames lend a complementary aesthetic to his artworks, are lightweight, collapsible, durable, reusable (if handled with great care), and easy to hang.
We also suggest using anti-reflective, UV resistant plexiglass, in conjunction with the metal frames or any frames you choose to use to help further protect the print.
If your budget allows then we recommend top quality wood frames and museum glass as the ultimate framing choice.
Please check with your most trusted frame shop for further information and choices on framing.
How and where do I hang my prints?
It depends on what you have selected as your framing choice, and the location of where you wish your framed print to hang in.
We suggest using the best possible frames you can afford, that satisfies your taste, and hang the framed print following the recommendations by your frame shop based on the additional hanging materials they may provide you with.
We recommend that you hang your framed print in a location where direct sunlight cannot reach it.
If you decide to place your print under direct artificial lighting, please refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations for the lighting unit in order to get the best possible intensity of light for your print without damaging it.
Please note that artificial lighting may have some level of UV radiation. Should you decide on a particular lighting solution for your print, please check with the manufacturer on which lighting systems can be used to lessen or prevent degradation of the print over time.
